Marching Band
About the HMHS Marching Band
The HMHS Marching Band is a dynamic fusion of music, athletics, and performance art, showcasing both musicianship and choreography in a competitive setting. Our performances are judged on musical and visual excellence, with scoring based on both difficulty and execution. We believe that competition fosters teamwork, discipline, personal growth, and musical development, encouraging students to put the group above themselves. Our inclusive program welcomes all students, helping build community and character through shared effort and performance.
HMHS competes in the Tournament of Bands (TOB), one of the region’s most respected circuits, in Group 1 (bands with up to 30 musicians). Each season, we prepare for three major championship events: the TOB Chapter Championships (Chapter 1 – South Jersey), the New Jersey State Championships, and the prestigious Atlantic Coast Championships (ACCs), where the top 25 bands from eight states compete.
In 2024, the HMHS Marching Band achieved top 5 placements in every championship event, earning High Visual and High Music Awards and setting record-breaking scores — including the highest in school history with a 90.48 and 90.37.
